Home Information Packs were introduced to improve the home buying and selling experience for both developers and home owners alike. Not only have HIPs been introduced to provide home owners with all the essential information on their new property, but help reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.

HIPs contain a wide range of information. All HIPs must contain a set of compulsory documents, but there is also a number of optional information that you may decide to include, should you feel it necessary.

Compulsory or "Required" information includes:
  • An index
  • An Energy Performance Certificate (if sold off plan a Predicted Energy Assessment must be included)
  • A Sales statement
  • Evidence of title
  • Standard searches
Optional or "Authorised" information includes:
  • A Home Condition report (for existing properties)
  • Home use form (for existing properties)
  • Home contents form
  • A pack summary (explaining any unusual documents in the pack)
  • Information identifying the property
  • Information on the source of pack documents and redress procedures
  • Additional documents for leasehold and commonhold property interests
  • Guaranties and Warrantees
  • Information about the design standards
  • Extra title information and other searches
